Drew Sinclair
Drew joined regionalArchitects in 2008. He is a registered architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Drew brings nearly 8–years of architectural design leadership to the firm along with an additional 6–years working in the International Development sector. In addition to urban and landscape designs and regional spatial plans, Drew’s project expertise ranges from single–family housing to urban–scale block development. He has worked in numerous architectural practices across Canada, the United States, and Europe and currently leads rA's institutional building, transit infrastructure, and market housing projects.
Drew was the recipient of the 2008 Canada Council Prix de Rome for Emerging Practitioners for his work on the relationship between spatial planning, urban codes, and (re)development in Northern Europe. His Prix research built on extensive experience in the development and adaptation existing structures and difficult brownfield sites. Prior to joining rA, Drew served as Project Manager for the adaptation of a 19th–Century brick meatpacking warehouse in New York into a multi–use complex for the fashion designer Diane von Furstenburg. Drew also served as Project Architect for the conversion of a 19th–Century
blacksmith's shed into an award winning single family dwelling– superkul's 40R Laneway House– and the conversion of an industrial warehouse into a recreation and entertainment complex at 99 Sudbury Avenue in Toronto.
Drew holds a Master of Architecture Degree from the University of Toronto and is a past recipient of the Faculty's Alpha Rho Chi Medal and Heather Reisman Gold Medal in Design. He is a member of the Toronto Society of Architects’ Executive and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design.
