our history
regionalArchitects (rA) was founded in 2008 by John van Nostrand and draws on his over 30 years of experience as a practicing architect. John was a Founding Partner with architectsAlliance from 1999 to 2008 and led the firm’s social housing and urban design portfolios. Before that, John served as Partner with van Nostrand DiCastri Architects and Garwood–Jones van Nostrand Architects.
rA’s portfolio includes the design and construction of numerous public and private facilities, and spans a wide range of industries and sectors. rA has also led many complex urban design projects for downtown, suburban and waterfront public spaces. Our work has been recognized with national and international awards for architecture and urban design.
rA has a staff of 15 architects, urban designers and planners who work in a shared studio alongside our affiliated practices, planningAlliance and rePlan.
